Life is filled with ups and downs, surprises and disappointments. Let’s face it, life is unpredictable.
No matter what life throws at you, here are six simple ways to make everyday great.
Laugh a lot!
Did you know that children laugh about 400 times everyday, but adults only laugh on average about 15 times each day? Some of the benefits of laughing include improving your social life, boosting your immune system, lowering your blood pressure, and even losing weight! (Source.)
Encourage others.
You never know what someone else is going through. Everyday I see people who look like they have it all together, but often people look better off than they really are. A small word of encouragement can make a big difference in somebody’s life.
Give a helping hand.
Did you know that the US Census Bureau reported that in 2010 over 15% of the people living in America are living in poverty? (Source.) This means that about 1 out of every 10 people you see everyday are living at or below the poverty level. How can you give someone a helping hand?
Love.
Judy Garland, a famous actress and singer, once said, “I can live without money, but I cannot live without love.” She’s right. We cannot live without love because God made us to love and to be loved. In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells us to love each other the same way that he has loved us. (Source.)
Move it, move it!
I know, I know! We all need to get more exercise, but it’s easier than you think. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park in the parking spot that is farthest away instead of looking for the one that’s closest. Stretch in the mornings and before you go to bed. Even just five minutes of exercise each day can greatly improve your mental and physical health. (Source.)
Pray often.
Prayer is the way we connect our minds and hearts with the mind and heart of God. No matter how our day is going, we can always turn to God in prayer and he is there for us – always. The Bible encourages us to pray often and to pray about everything. If you’re day isn’t going well, turn to God in prayer. When we draw close to him, he draws close to us! (Source.)
